What is a Listing Template

A Listing Template is sort of a pre-defined template with the data that is common across the items you sell on eBay. As an example, you always used fixed set of Buyer Requirements & Payment Methods for all your Listings. Instead of always having to re-enter this data in all your Listings, you simply define a Listing Template with this information. From this point onwards, you can creating Listings using this template and all the data from Listing Template is brought into your Listing automatically.

Some important information about Listing Templates

Each Listing Template has a unique Name.

A Listing Template is specific to an eBay Site. If you sell on multiple eBay Sites, you will have to create Listing Templates you need for each site.

Other than the ability to create Listings, Listing Templates are also used heavily in following features: -

  • Launch Rules
  • Import Listings from CSV

How to create a Listing Template

Click on Listings -> New Template tab to create a new Listing Template. A Listing Template form is similar to a Listing Form except that you will also need to provide a unique Template Name for it.

Actions Available For Listing Template

  • Save - Saves current Listing Template.
  • Save Template & New - Save current Listing Template and open the Listing Template Form to create a new one.
  • Preview - Preview how your Listing Template’s item description will look like in HTML.
  • Verify - Validate the Listing Template for completeness. This will trigger a call to eBay to make sure all the data you have provided for the Listing Template confirms to eBay’s requirements.
